Ferrotitanium is a ferroalloy containing up to 35 or more than 60% Ti, 1-7% Al, 1-4.5% Si, up to 3% Cu (the rest is Fe and impurities). Get out of the furnace aluminothermic method from ilmenite concentrate and titanium waste (low-percentage ferrotitanium to 35%) or by fusing iron and titanium waste in an electric furnace (high-percentage ferrotitanium from 60%).
Ferrotitanium is used to deoxidize and alloy steel. In addition, the use of titanium alloy allows to increase the strength of the finished steel metal, its heat resistance, resistance to deformation, as well as facilitate the weldability. This material is also used for the production of electric welding electrodes.
